Turbulences sur le vol retour

La tension accumulé la semaine précédente au concours, a fait éclaté un accrochage entre Lynn Chircop et le Président du Malta Song Festival, Charló Bonnici, lors du vol de retour vers Malte.

Des journalistes maltais, présents sur le vol retour vers Malte, ont été témoins d'un scène entre Lynn Chircop et Charló Bonnici. Ce dernier ayant crié contre Lynn. Entre autres, Lynn l'accuse d'avoir ruiné son image avec le public maltais. La famille de Lynn a également montré leur désapprobation, affirmant qu'elle n'avait pas eu la même attention que la candidate de 2002, Ira Losco.

La candidate de cette année, a également dit qu'elle avait ressentie un boycottage de la chanson maltaise cette année, puisque l'année dernière, certains pays avaient promis un appui qu'ils n'ont jamais obtenu.

A la sortie du hall d'arrivées de l'aéroport, Alfred Zammit (le compositeur de la chanson) et Paul Zammit Cutajar (le responsable de Bridge Productions) en sont presque venus aux mains !

L'existence d'une crise de communication, en particulier entre les parents de Lynn et Charló Bonnici, était évident durant la semaine qui précédait le Concours. Les accusations des parents de Lynn ou le désintérêt montré par certains membres du Malta Song Festival envers la chanteuse étaient à l'ordre du jour, puisqu'elle avait gagné ce festival de la chanson.

Lynn Chircop a indiqué qu'elle se sentait mal devant le manque d'intérêt dont le Président du Malta Song Festival montrait. "A Riga, j'ai jugé que je ne pouvais faire confiance à n'importe qui, indépendamment de ma famille. J'ai eu besoin de l'appui moral du Président, que je n'ai jamais obtenu. J'ai dû le faire moi-même" a exprimé Lynn.

Monsieur Charló Bonnici, qui avait annoncé il y a quelques semaines qu'il abandonnerait son poste de Président du Malta Song Festival, à commenté : "Nous devons comprendre qu'il est normal pour quelqu'un sous l'effet de certaines émotions, et dans de telles circonstances, d'agir de cette façon. Ces trois derniers mois, nous avons usé de patience, résilience et diplomatie jusqu'à leurs limites".

Lynn a également été troublé par le fait que le Malta Song Festival avait pris la décision de ne pas produire de clip vidéo, dirigeant les quelques 11 800€uros à la promotion dans les autres pays participants.

"Je ne pense pas que la vidéo soit très importante pour l'image de la chanson. J'aurais préféré avoir la vidéo produite officiellement au lieu du déplacement à l'étranger. Nous aurions pu envoyer la vidéo comme matériel de promotion au lieu de me faire voyager" a affirmée Lynn. "Comment pourrais-je faire pour m'améliorer si je n'étais pas soutenu par un bon marketing ? Considérant que d'autres pays ont dépensé des millions sur leurs chansons, le Festival a pris la décision de ne pas produire de clip, du moins pour moi".

La chanson maltaise pour Riga

La demi-finale maltaise du 7 février à Ta'Qali, présentée par DJ Gianni (aka Gianni Zammit, qui a déjà participé aux présélections 2000) et Mireille Bonello, a permis la qualification de 16 chansons pour la seconde demi-finale. Le choix a été déterminé par un mélange de télévote et d'un jury d'expert, chacun comptant à 50%.

A l'issue de la seconde soirée de présélection maltaise, c'est la chanson "Dream again" interprétée par Lynn Chircop, qui a été choisie pour représenter Malte à Riga.

Durant l'entracte musical, il fallait compter sur la performance de Lior Narkis, Ira Losco et Marie N qui a interprétée une chanson en français.

Charlo Bonnici a indiqué que le public avait voté pour la meilleure chanson. Il était évident que nous devions prendre en considération le télévote à 50% pour donner l'occasion au public d'avoir un certain pouvoir, tout comme c'est déjà en fonction dans certains pays, où un pourcentage élevé du résultat final est décidé par le télévote. 4.000 personnes se sont rassemblés sous le chapiteau, où se déroulait pour la première fois le Maltasong. Les années précédentes, il avait lieu au Centre Méditerranéen des Conférences. Monsieur Bonnici considère cette édition 2003 comme un succès.

Les auditions pour les choristes

Durant l'audition pour l'émission "PopIn" pour la recherche des choristes qui accompagnera la chanson maltaise à Riga, 80 jeunes talents ont affichés leur désir de convaincre les quatre juges. Des 80, seulement 24 ont été retenus.

L'audition s'est déroulée dans les studios de PBS. Chacun des 80 jeunes artistes ont interprété une chanson en direct devant les juges. Ensuite, ils ont répondu à diverses questions préparées par ces mêmes juges.

L'émission sera diffusée une fois par semaine sur TVM, dès le dimanche 12 janvier 2003 à 18h45. Tout comme pour l'audition, quatre juges examineront ces candidats durant les émissions, qui se dérouleront en direct. Chaque semaine, des candidats (dont le nombre n'est pas connu) devront quitter l'émission.

L'émission sera présentée par Mireille Bonello et Jonathan Abela

Les sélections à Ta'Qali

C'est à Ta'Qali, un nouveau complexe sur l'île de Malte, que se déroulera les sélections nationales les 7 et 8 février 2003. Ce lieu a déjà accueilli le dernier 'Malta Music Awards''.

Un nombre de 24 chansons seront en compétition le 7, pour être réduit à 16 pour le lendemain. Ces 24 chansons seront incluses dans l'émission 'Pop In' pour la diffusion

La sélection maltaise se déroulera les 7 et 8 février 2003 à Ta'Qali. Le 7 février, les 24 chansons seront réduites à 16 pour la finale du lendemain. Le vote sera un mélange de télévote et d'un jury d'expert.

Méthode différente

'doteurovision.com' annonce que le Comité Maltasong diviserait en 2 parties leur méthode de sélection pour la sélection nationale, le 'Malta Song for Europe'. Le choix de la chanson se déroulera traditionnellement, mais pour les choristes, le choix consistera à une émission de télé-réalité 'Pop in'. L'émission débutera en janvier et sera diffusée sur TVM (TVMalta) qui appartient à PBS.

Toutes les chansons qui seront en demi-finales seront présentées durant les différentes émissions de 'Pop In'.

Par contre, si lors de la sélection nationale, la chanson ne comporte pas de choriste, que deviendraient ceux désignés par la sélection 'Pop In' ?! Les choristes choisis seront tout de même du voyage à Riga et feront parti de la délégation maltaise a répondu Charlo Bonnici, le Président de Maltasong.

Une chanson se retire du Malta Song for Europe 2003

La chanson "So far away" a été retiré de sélection nationale par son auteur/compositeur, dont les noms n'ont pas encore été révélés. La 51ème chanson "Welcome" prend donc la place pour lui succéder. Différentes raisons du retrait de la chanson, mais la principale tient du fait que l'auteur et le compositeur n'ont pas eu l'envie de changer l'interprète original de la chanson. Le règlement du 'Malta Song for Europe' exige que si un chanteur interprète au moins deux chansons dans les 50, celle réalisant le moins de points doit chanter d'interprète.

Malta Song for Europe 2003 : la liste des chansons

50 chansons participeront au Malta Song for Europe 2003. L'annonce fut faite par le Président du Maltasong, Mr Charlo Bonici depuis La Valette.

Sur 238 chansons reçues à PBS, le radiodiffuseur national, 50 ont été sélectionnées par une équipe de 15 personnes. Ensuite, sur ces 50, ce seront 24 chansons qui seront sélectionnées pour aller en demi-finales les 7 et 8 février 2003.

Malta Song for Europe 2003

Encore un record pour le 'Malta Song Festival', avec 238 chansons reçues. 224 était le nombre pour 2002. Un premier panel de jurés choisira 50 chansons les 20 et 21 novembre 2002. Ces jurés font partie du monde du spectacle et de l'industrie musicale maltaise. La liste des 50 chansons qui seront en compétition sera annoncée le 23 novembre à 11h00, depuis le Radissons SAS Hôtel. Le nombre de 50 chansons sera ensuite réduit à 24. La date du 16 décembre n'a pas encore été confirmée.

Le Président du nouveau 'Malta Song Festival a indiqué à OGAE Malta, qu'il y a toujours une possibilité de changer le lieu habituel pour la finale, le Centre Méditerranéen des Conférences par un autre lieu. L'annonce sera faite prochainement.
